What is Youth Athlete of the Year? 

Youth Athlete of the Year is a online competition that invites young athletes across the country of all skills levels to compete to appear in a Colossal/3BRAND advertisement in Sports Illustrated magazine and take home $25,000. Competitors will be supporting two charities during this competition: The V Foundation in their mission to save lives and accelerate Victory Over Cancer® and the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to equip today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.

Who runs the Youth Athlete of the Year competition?

Colossal Management, LLC, runs the competition. Colossal is the nation’s leading professional fundraiser, known for producing large-scale online competitions that combine cultural appeal with charitable impact. Since launching, Colossal has raised over $180 million to benefit nonprofits.

 

Do Sports Illustrated, 3BRAND, The V Foundation, Why Not You Foundation or Russell Wilson run this competition?

No. Colossal runs the Youth Athlete of the Year competition as part of a fundraising campaign on behalf of DTCare, a 501(c)(3) charity.

 

Is there a fee to enter the competition?

No, there is no cost for competitors to join the competition.

 

How old does my child need to be to enter?

The competition is open to athletes of all skill levels, ages 7 through 17.

Where is this competition located?

This competition takes place exclusively online, no travel is necessary.

 

How does my athlete win this competition?

The winner of the competition will be selected through public voting. Once the competition begins (7/28), you, your friends, family and fans may vote for your athlete once per day and they will move through several rounds of competition.

 

Where does the competition money go?

The grants to the V Foundation and Why Not You Foundation will come from donations generated through votes by donation during the competition. 100% of donations made through the Youth Athlete of the Year competition will go directly to DTCare, which will subsequently grant donation funds (minus competition fees/costs and a nominal percentage (1%) retained by DTCare) to both organizations. The grant will help each in their respective missions to accelerating Victory Over Cancer® and helping today's youth become tomorrow's leaders.
